Halls Gap weather covers the four seasons, warm and dry in summer and perfect for swimming in the many lakes or the Halls Gap pool.  Cool in Autumn making it the perfect time to walk and explore.  Wet in winter, great for day drives or relaxing in the spa bath or near a log fire and mild in Spring, the perfect conditions for our amazing wildflowers.

When you’re in Halls Gap, you can discover the Grampians your way! With more than 160 kilometres of bush walking trails to choose from, you're guaranteed to find a track that appeals. If you don’t mind a short drive then the MacKenzie Falls and Beehive Falls are both must sees when visiting the area.

The Grampians National Park is scattered with diverse lakes like the Bellfield and the Lonsdale lakes, the Fyans and the Wartook lakes, all offering opportunities for water activities like canoeing and fishing and is perfect for those that like birdwatching. Alternatively, you can enjoy the incredible views of The Grampians on foot. As you take a walk up to The Pinnacle, you can inhale the fresh air of the mountains. For an easier climb, you can take the track from the Sundial Carpark to the Pinnacle via Devil's Gap but if you’re seeking a longer walk, you can always start from the Wonderland Carpark in Halls Gap and return via the Grand Canyon.

Aboriginal Origins

The Grampians were traditionally known as the Gariwerd and they still wear the marks of its rich past. Guided tours of the ancient Aboriginal rock art shelters can be taken from Halls gap. As you delve into the indigenous culture at Brambuk - the National Park and Cultural Centre, you will get to discover ancient oven mounds, leftovers of stones and tools, the fascinating rock art and learn about the traditional beliefs of the Aboriginals.

Whether you're a food and wine lover or an outdoor explorer, the township of Halls Gap has so much to offer.

There are several cafes and tourist shops set on the boardwalk with Stony Creek as the backdrop, the Halls Gap Picnic Reserve and adventure playground is conveniently located in the centre of town and is the perfect spot for the kids to run and play. The Halls Gap Zoo has hundreds of species of native and exotic animals including favourites like kangaroos, koalas, meercats, giraffes and dingoes. You can also get together for a round of mini-golf at the 18-hole golf course at Grampians Adventure Golf. Amateur runners will love the annual ‘Run The Gap’ event, which includes a lap across the wall at stunning Lake Bellfield near the tourist village of Halls Gap.
